A Visit from Across the Pond

Keeping in line with a very international summer, WorldBoston, a city nonprofit focused on fostering engagement in Boston on international affairs, hosted a visit by several British Ministers of Parliament, or MPs.

The MPs, the equivalent of American members of Congress, came from the several parties in Parliament, representing several regions of the United Kingdom, and were greeted by myself and several other legislators to discuss international issues.

Our relationship with the U.K. has historically been a strong bond built on economic, cultural, social and political ties. Massachusetts is home to several British companies, while the United Kingdom also hosts a number of businesses from the Bay State including Raytheon, based in Waltham.

As the United Kingdom negotiates its exit from the European Union, and the new relationships it will have to craft, we in Massachusetts will remain partners in economic growth and development between us.
