I had the pleasure of attending the Every Voice Student Summit at Harvard Law School last month, where organizers brought together student leaders from across Massachusetts to discuss efforts to combat sexual violence on campuses. Students as well as groups including Jane Doe Inc., the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, NO MORE, the Harvard Assault Law-Student Team, the Massachusetts Student Advisory Council, and the College Democrats of Massachusetts' Women's Caucus attended. Elected officials including the Massachusetts Speaker of the House Bob DeLeo, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, House Chair of the Joint Committee of Higher Education Jeff Roy, Senator Will Brownberger, and I were also present to hear from students firsthand about their experiences and concerns.

This session, I am again filing my bill to combat campus sexual violence, H.1208, An Act requiring sexual misconduct climate surveys at institutions of higher education, which passed the House unanimously last year. I spoke about this bill, which Every Voice has made a priority, and had the opportunity to join a panel on sexual violence on campus. I had the honor of attending the summit alongside the Speaker and Congresswoman Pressley, two people who have led in advocating for Massachusetts students.

I am looking forward this session to continuing to work alongside both the wonderful student advocates from Every Voice, who have made it their work to protect their classmates, and with Speaker DeLeo who has made this a priority for this session.

P.S. This Boston Globe cartoon about the Every Voice Coalition Summit at Harvard Law School by Sage Stossel is so powerful, yet subtle. Check it out.
